Walking into Merck’s office on Friday was like a homecoming affair – Jennie was waiting at the entrance and she teared while giving me a tight “welcome back” hug gushing repeatedly that she’s so happy to see me again. I felt her earnest genuineness and warmth…
The rest of the Merck group, right from Wai Ling, Jan, Stella, Arielle, Shirlyn – all came out the moment they heard I was there for a meeting with the Fertility team.
Wai Ling’s first words were, “Young lady, we know you are very hardworking and dedicated but you got to pace yourself and learn to relax…”
I’ll never ever forget that Jennie, whom I just got to know back in Oct 2023, right before the PERKKS 2023 Conference, was the one who propelled my career full-steam into medical marketing field. From Fertility – Jennie’s portfolio – we have since expanded to cover all the other 3 of Merck’s therapeutic areas both local and regional level – CVD and Endocrine together with Oncology. And I’ve not looked back since. I owe her the heartfelt and sincerest gratitude which I’ve not even told her till this day.
These relationships begun as mere client-agency but have built and we have all bonded on a personal level since 2023, till we are more like friends now. Just proves the wise-old Outward-Boundians saying: “strangers are friends you have not met.”
While I was admitted, the texts, prayers and well-wishes from these clients, although incessant, but their concern and care were something I truly treasure.
As reflected in my absolute earnest and heartfelt response to everyone with a huge grin, “I’m just glad and grateful to God to be given a renewed chance to be out and about enabling me to continue living my dreams in pursuing what I truly, madly, deeply love in this life.”
