My heart stopped on Proverbs 11:16(a) this morning:
“A gracious woman retaineth honour…”
And it just kind of stayed there.
What kind of woman do I want to be?
One that is harsh and judgemental?
One that gives the cold shoulder or silent treatment?
Or one that is gracious?
Then I looked up this verse in another translation and it spoke to my heart on an even deeper level:
“a woman of gentle grace gets respect…”
A Woman of Gentle Grace.
What a title.
The Biblical definition of grace can be summed up in seven words:
God giving us something we don’t deserve.
And He did just that.
He gave us His Son:
and created our pathway to Heaven.
through Him.
And I can’t think of any better legacy:
than to be defined as:
a woman of gentle grace.
These few words of Scripture spoke to my heart this evening.
In a world that tendeth toward gossip, envy, jealousy, and division amongst women:
I’d rather be a woman of gentle grace.
One who is inviting.
One who is kind.
One who is understanding.
One who gives others a second chance:
even after she’s been offended.
One who extends a gracious arm:
even to those who perhaps don’t deserve it.
A woman of gentle grace.
These words resound in my heart:
And remind me:
Of who I want to be.
And with God’s grace in my heart:
I have the ability.
To leave that legacy.
